ST RITA'S FEAST DAY 22ND MAY
Next Tuesday we will be celebrating our St Rita's Day by commencing with the Leadership Assembly for all of our Year Sevens and our Student Council. The children will be honoured by our community for their leadership capabilities and responsibilities and presented with Leadership Badges in recognition of this honour. All are welcome to attend at 9am.
Other special activities are planned for the day – including Year Sevens studying Iconography, and other year levels collaboratively creating ideas for a school mascot. Our – yet unimagined – mascot will lead the way for St Rita's school wide positive behaviour expectations. Exciting times!
Please send, if possible, a picnic style lunch for your child to share on Tuesday. We are planning a whole school picnic on our oval at first break where buddy classes will join together to celebrate our connectedness as a school community. As always, you are welcome. The picnic will take place around 11am.
TECHNOLOGY INFORMATION EVENING
For those parents who missed the Technology Information evening on Wednesday 16 May we have established a new section of this website (accessible via Quick Links or the Curriculum part of the main menu) called ICLT St Rita's. Here you will find useful resources and information for parents.
LEADERSHIP LITURGY – Tuesday 22 May
Please join us for a celebration of Year 7 Leadership for 2012 on Tuesday 22 May from 9am to 9.45am.
ST RITA'S WALK SAFELY TO SCHOOL DAY FRIDAY 18 MAY
Thanks to the people who have already volunteered to help out with this day. We are lucky to have such generous parents at our school! If you do help out, your child/children will still be able to participate in the walk around the oval at school.
It is a great day to be involved with and the event is all over by about 9.15am. If you would like to be a part of the team organising the day, some of the tasks involved are listed in this week's newsletter. If you would like to get involved, please contact Lisa, acrets@me.com or 0405 152 952.
There are some fun competitions for the students relating to the day. These are also outlined in this week's newsletter.
CONGRATULATIONS
State Kumite Titles: Last weekend, William (Yr4)
competed in the State Karate titles.
William fought really well and finished with a
'Gold Medal' in Kumite (i.e. fighting). William will now
compete in the Nationals later in Term 3 held in
Melbourne. Well done William on such an amazing result
and all the best for the Nationals!
St Anthony's Invitational Cross Country Congratulations to all those students who represented St
Rita's last Wednesday at the St Anthony's Invitational
Cross Country. There were fantastic results all round for
our 'Rita Rep Runners Squad' and they were up against
some very tight competition. The end of the day saw our
'Senior Boys Division' finish 2nd Place overall as well as our
'Intermediate Girls Division' finish in 3rd Place. Once again
well done everyone on your efforts and the hard work you
all put into your training.
District Sport Representatives Congratulations to Dana-Maree (Yr6) and
Samantha (Yr7) who earlier this term attended the
Redlands District Girls Soccer trials. Dana and Samantha
performed exceptionally well and both gained selection in
the District Girls Soccer Team to compete at upcoming
Met-East Trials.
